Colorado National Speedway will open its 2026 race season by hosting the Spears CARS Tour West Super Late Model division in this weekend’s Builders Warehouse 150. It marks only the third time the CTW has visited the facility and the third installment of the SLM seven-race schedule.

Two races into the season, there has yet to be repeat winner. Jace Hansen, the series point leader and Colorado native, will look to become the first driver to win consecutive SLM races this year. He will be among 23 entries from Colorado (representing over half the field), Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina and Wyoming competing for a $15,000 payday. Live coverage from Colorado National Speedway will stream on FloRacing beginning at 7 p.m. MT (9 p.m. ET) on Saturday, May 2.

NOTES:

POINT LEAD SHIFTS: The point lead has shuffled twice in as many SLM races this season. Taylor Mayhew, 15, led out of gate with his win at The Bullring. But Jace Hansen, the 2025 SLM champion, claimed the top spot with the series’ most recent win at Kern Raceway. Currently, Hansen holds a 12-point advantage over Bryce Bezanson of Missoula, Mont.

THROUGH THE FIELD: No SLM race has been won from the Hamke pole position this year. Buddy Shepherd and Chris Clyne are the two pole winners in 2026. However, Taylor Mayhew won at The Bullring from eighth, while Jace Hansen started seccond en route to his victory at Kern Raceway. In addition, Hansen has led a series high 133 laps this season.

COLORADO CONTENDERS: Jace Hansen, Bryce Bezanson and Keelan Harvick are the only three drivers with top fives in both races to open the season. Hansen’s win at Kern and runner-up effort at The Bullring equate to the best average finish of 1.5 among fulltime competitors. Harvick and Bezanson follow with respective averages of 3.5 and 4.0. Taylor Mayhew adds a win, while Vito Cancilla has a top five and two top-10 finishes. Dylan Zampa has also posted a pair of top 10s to start the season.

CENTENNIAL STATE STATS: Buddy Shepherd is the defending SLM winner at Colorado National Speedway. The list of winners at the 3/8-mile track also includes 13-year-old Keelan Harvick, who won in his first PLM start there in 2025. Additional drivers with top-10 efforts at Colorado last season are Vito Cancilla, Cody Dempster and Darren Robertson. In addition, Taylor Mayhew posted a Legend Car win at Colorado National Speedway last August.

SLM 2026 SCHEDULE: In addition to this weekend’s race at Kern Raceway, the division races at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval (May 30), Tri-City Raceway (July 4), Evergreen Speedway (Aug. 13-15), before circling back to The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Nov. 14) for the season finale.

RECORD SETTING PURSE IN 2026: The biggest payout in Spears CARS Tour West history is up for grabs in 2026 with $2.1 million in total payouts, including $200k in championship awards, $1.9 million in purse money and bonuses and partner awards at every race.
